About the Artist
Artist /proprietor Bill Kieffer has been involved in the design and fine art fields for over 20 years. Since early childhood he was working with a variety of media, from pencil and paint to sculpture, metalworking, and photography. After graduating with a degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Seattle, Bill continued his career as a concept designer for print, film, theater and television, until eventually going freelance and moving to Chicago. It was here that Bill continued his commercial design practices, while also handling a steady workload of illustration projects for regional and national organizations. It was around this time that Bill also designed and played a giant, defecating pigeon in the epic short film . In Spring of 2001, Bill relinquished his day-job position of Creative Director at a fortune 500 company to pursue a not-so-predictable artistic evolution into tattooing. His goal was to combine years of eclectic, multi-media experience toward a more personalized end, and the most challenging canvas of all- the human skin. Bill apprenticed under the expert hand of Robert Hixon, owner of Tomato Tattoo in Chicago. With the added guidance (and nearly constant harassment) from veteran tattooist Erik Gillespie, he was educated in the methods of sterilization procedures, machine and needle building, tattoo design and application techniques. He continued to learn and work under his mentors until 2003, when he relocated to San Diego. San Diego proved to be a great step, and he landed a position working with Tattoo Mike and the crew at Chronic Tattoo in Pacific Beach. Within a few years, and after having garnered numerous tattoo awards across the country, Bill was able to open his own studio in the spring of 2007. Since then, EDEN has been steadily building a reputation as one of San Diego's highest quality custom tattoo studios. Bill is a registered member of the California Alliance for the Promotion of Safe Body Art (CAPSBA), and through them holds a current Bloodborne Pathogens Training Certificate of Completion. He is also registered with the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health to engage in the practice of tattooing. Next Page
